ABOUT THE UGLY HOUSE TEAROOM
Ty Hyll (The ugly house) has long been described as “charming” and “unique” by visitors and locals alike. The perfect place then for our tearoom, Pot Mel, where we serve our customers a unique blend of quality homemade food and charm them with our personal service. Locally sourced ingredients are a priority on our menu, and we think we have created a selection of dishes to whet the appetite of any customer.
Savoury dishes such as our “secret recipe” Welsh Rarebit are a must, as is our range of homemade quiches and our very popular Scotch Eggs. Homemade soup is always on the menu and changes daily depending on the seasonal availability of ingredients. Our sandwiches are freshly made to order, using locally baked bread from the Tandderwen Bakery in nearby Betws y Coed.
Our display of freshly baked cakes might include a classic Victoria Sponge, Coffee and Walnut cake, a Gluten Free Chocolate Orange cake and perhaps a plate of sticky Apricot & Sultana Flapjacks. The range varies depending on what our bakers have created the day before. If you would like to try something traditionally Welsh, our popular Barabrith and freshly griddled Welshcakes are always on offer.
Whether you are looking for a hearty lunch, a traditional Welsh Cream Tea or just a quick “panad” (cuppa), pop into the Tearoom at Ty Hyll for a friendly welcome in a unique and interesting location.
